I also copped the Crooked I - Evolution of a Boss double-disc mixtape. i hesitate to call it a mixtape, since it was two-discs long. the thing was incredible. it was very gangster with the main highlights being Crooks and his ridiculous lyricism and personality just bursting through every track no matter the redundant and weak kneed cameo act he happened to pull together. it reminded me a lot of rassasination... only longer, much much longer. but with Crooked I ripping up every single track reguardless of the age or quality of the beat you dont even care! its just more lyrics to go.
some of the major highlights of album had to be when he ripped a track with Rza and Meth, remaking "did you ever think" with R. Kelly, and two tracks where he and Chino XL merge to become pure liquid quotables and metaphors on wax. but my favorite track on this album, not only did i submit on the radio blog... but i deleted it and resubmitted it again so it would be at the top of the list.
this was good. i felt like i was listening to the kind of gangster rap that existed in my dreams only.
crooked i does a freestyle a week over at Dub CNN: West Coast News Network. im totally catching hip hop weekly from now on... even though its hard for me to look at the site for too long.

this guy is on the level of some of hip hops finest in terms of lyricism and he keeps it really gangster for the thugged-out westside fans. after doing alot of research, theres not much about him i dont respect.
