Its very easy to be all high and mighty about whats going on in the auto industry when you work in another industry, or for the state or whatever. but i think they need to really, really, really think about not giving the money to the auto industry for the bailout before they become crazy enough to do it. the big three might need to go (like sick branches on a tree), or maybe they just need to band together and try and hold each other up. maybe someone bigger needs to buy them all. who knows?
but i do think that they have a lot of audacity for charging something insane like a 12,000% markup on every new car sold, creating shifty or simply limited policies when it comes to repairing or recalling those cars, and then they're coming and asking the government for our money to keep them around. they must be out of their got-dam-minds.

This seems like a classic case of borrowing money from someone because you spent all yours last night drinking. Also, if the US DOES bail them out, the US gov't had better have partial ownership and there had better be some expectations of future vehicle fuel efficiency and a hand in how they operate and invest in alternate fuel technology.
