Without having been that far into the day, i can honestly say that today has been terrible. i am utterly shocked at the whole deal, seriously. i woke up depressed and then i got slammed with work that will absolutely lead to me handling issues that are both uncomfortable and unnecessary. its only like 9:30. my coworkers are stomping on me, people are being generally disagreeable (not foul, yet) and im absolutely aggravated all the time. i wish i had just stuck my head in the ground last night and played WoW. it all started when i went out to the stupid store and bought that stupid... i dont even want to think about it. ill be glad when today is over.
this is my valentines day dedication song. im actually making a top 10 post tomorrow for my hip hop friends to debate over. but im positive they wont post any comments to it. they'll just hit me up on gmail or wait for me to sign into aim or whatever. you know, i actually put a counter in at the bottom of the page (i put it in 2 days ago) and i have a referral checker so i know who you are. i know people read this. so all of those who comment - Tricia, Ally, Jamie, Lachelle - i love you guys happy valentines day!
A Tribe Called Quest - Find A Way
i love this song. by the way, if you're interested, todays vintage hip hop song is Three Times Dope - Funky Dividends. there really isnt much to say about them. when i was a kid i bought thier tape and it was ok. they really were one hit wonders. a lot of emcees sounded like this at the time. and the three of them weren't dope, just the main emcee... and even he was kinda "meh". but this song was one of the greats. so credit where credit is due.
now as for what i said a second ago about the main rapper (EST) being the dopest thing about the group. check for Robert EST Waller on google. he is now an accredited songwriter with a couple hits under his belt and a grammy, i guess.
while no longer an emcee, he still appears in some of the most obscure references in hip hop, for example Ras Kass's line in the song, Etc, "See, we been burning idiots with lyrical syphillis since EST was Acknikulous". his skills were profound, sadly his groups delivery and presentation, not so strong.
