Todays vintage tuesday is about a man. a man who lead a charmed life in hip hop. Kwamé is one of those rare few who started a trend. but he had the same thing going as Big Daddy Kane in some respects. he is famous for his cameo haircut with the bleached stripe and the polka dots. he rapped low key, not hostile and ridiculous. nor did his music have very much to do with violence.
just a bit more about him, he was an innovator in hip hop music. its very subtle, but he had a live band, he was mentored by some of the greats of soul, r&b, and jazz and has a hitlist under his belt much like EST i mentioned last week. he had 4 albums, the fourth being the heaviest of all the heavy flops. the crushing point of his career was when Biggie dissed him for it saying his polka dot trademark was played out. he made no more albums and sunk into first depression and then production, where he excelled and lived a lot longer than biggie (a happy ending).
