wow. it hasnt even been like two months yet and people are already biting him on the butt. i know this is old to some, but people are mostly just tired of arguing or dont have any idea what they were arguing about anymore. i got into a thing with someone about this at the store... so here it is.
so Obama has this big inauguration and people flip out. most of the arguments are, its way more than bush spent, and then people say its not more than bush spent and then others say when adjusted for inflation its much less than bush spent. then you have people that think that we (taxpayers) pay for the inauguration and then others that say we don't pay a dime for it and others that say couldn't be helped. i kinda think it couldnt be helped because, basically, president goes to a public event, president is going to cost us a lot of money.
It's the security, parties and countless Porta-a-Potty rentals that really run up the bill.
The federal government estimates that it will spend roughly $49 million on the inaugural weekend. Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland have requested another $75 million from the federal government to help pay for their share of police, fire and medical services.
i know a lot of people saw this as a bunch of rich yahoos, dancing around like its party time while the average guy was at home tightening their belt, but to me it sounds like a lot of government employees are going to get payed for overtime... maybe make the car note and house payment and pay off those Christmas gifts they bought their kids... i cant really see that as a bad thing.
I haven't looked into the details, but it seems to me that there is a real difference in the number of people who actually wanted to go to Obama's inauguration versus Bush's. Remember they ran out of tickets real quick and people were selling them online. Do you remember that from the previous administration?

yea, i do. your point is crazy valid. i was also talking to a guy at the bar on friday, i was saying Obama is a security nightmare either way you look at it. they have to have more security on him. if he goes out in public, its just going to cost us money, a lot of money.
