I think i get depressed when i see what has happened to hip hop. Not saying that i never noticed it or i didnt know it was dying or whatever. What bugs me is that Hip hop is back underground and still good, but the people in the spotlight get the title of hip hop. People believe the repetitive autotune pop music on the radio to be hip hop. I think i keep saying all this, over and over, but i shouldn't be. you see, hip hop is all about a dialogue and because there is no massive response of "oh i see what you're saying" from the media or any source, we keep repeating the same thing over and over again. But also as long as people keep paying for crap music, the industry keeps repeating itself.
Dana Howard did a report saying that "white suburban kids" stopped listening to hip hop because of the negative messages within and therefore hip hop died. But i'm like, hip hop never was about negative messages, it was about positive messages. Those same "white suburban kids" that stopped buying negative hip hop never picked up the positive stuff. so what are they picking up? Shortaaayeee[autotune]
Nas - I can
