So, as usual i get sucked into listening to the flashback friday show on KSFM 102.5 which is a local garbage station here in Sacramento. now i don't know if anyone remembers the singer TQ, Terrance Quaites. he had a few good songs here and there and basically, he sings like Nate Dogg wishes he could sing, but has none of the exposure or production. he was on the show today and talked about some of the work he's been doing and his leaving Cash Money Records. (bling.. bling..)
he left California to join the cash money record label back when they were hot and we never heard more than several thousand well vocalized cameos since then. now i wish i could've recorded the interview this morning during the course of my work, but i couldn't so i'll just have to say this.
he flat out said when asked, where have you been that the reason he left cash money was because they wouldn't let him come back to California. when asked why, he stated that they were scared. yes. scared of California. this is firsthand experience with these fellows, working with them and leaving the label in 2004. he says, they are afraid they will get shot and/or jacked, robbed, or simply hurt in California.
wow.
if you're looking to hear some of TQ's work. there should be a song under hip hop called "All Day" by Ras Kass featuring TQ singing on the chorus. i don't really own much of his work... honestly... the guy has never really had strong production behind him. but if he actually had some good production i would gladly support his return to California.
"Nobody has any conscience anymore about the work that they do." - TQ
good luck, buddy.
he needs to hook up with Crooked I and the C.O.B.
the west coast needs good music.
on a seperate note. they should not play songs like "girls kissing girls" on the radio. i mean if they played a song about "guys kissing guys" people would tear the station down by hand. hearing that before i turned off the radio has instilled horror in me.
