« Video Games

So i have offically returned to WoW and left Aion. We will explore this now. initially i didn't want to come back to wow. I've played that game for so many years that returning to it is like going back to your hometown after living in a major metropolis for years. but then you realize you left the metropolis for the beautiful country and sandy beaches. now while we all love barbecue, no one wants to eat it every night. no one wants to climb the mountain every time you have to go home. no one wants to walk all the way to the outhouse even in the storm. that being said, i knew instantly why WoW has its 5-10 million subs online and active.

Aion:
This game was exceptionally beautiful and fun and exciting. unfortunately, after a certain level it starts to slow down and not just slow down, it becomes painfully dead and boring. at level 39 i couldn't even stand to log on. I had no one to play with and no reason to play. I had done everything and what i hadn't done (quests) i had no desire to do. The quests are long and drawn out and killing a single monster on your own at the higher levels is like pulling sore teeth out of your own head. finding a group is impossible unless you're leveling with the herd and when you do find a group and go into a dungeon there is a very good chance you will get nothing for the hours you will spend in there and money you will have to pay for "soul healing" when you get out. This was not a good game or a good system. Supposedly they're going to change the system, but who cares. most of the people went max level and had nothing to do so they abandoned their accounts. others couldn't stand to try.

WoW:
Playing World of Warcraft after playing other games on the market is like getting a holy hand job from one of those victoria's secret angel models. They "GIVE" you things. They want you to play and win. The challenge is in the doing, not the suffering. If you get a group (and with the new looking for group system which spans all of the servers in a battle group you will get a group) then you will be subjected to a quick and painless jaunt through a dungeon and be rewarded with emblems.
Uh oh, did you get a group with an asshole-douche bag who complains and talks smack? Vote to kick. and away he goes. odds are if you didn't like him, neither did someone else. Hey, is that guy a dud who isnt doing his job? vote to kick, someone is bound to agree with you unless the problem is you.
Oh, you think you can jump in a group and just leave cause you're mad? well now you're on time-out for being a jerk. 15 minute debuff that doesn't allow you to group again and ruin someone elses' time-- did i say ruin? Pssh, they don't care, when you left they just re-queued and replaced you within two minutes maximum.
feel like questing? sure go ahead, they have more quests than it will take to go max level in a zone. Need money badly? do quests and if you ever run out of them (which is almost impossible) then do daily quests that reset every 24 hours and reward money and reputation with any desired faction.
Hate grinding? that's fine, you can probably get to max level in a couple months if you're really slow. Maybe a few weeks if you have nothing but time on your hands.

WoW is a six year old game with experience and huge amounts of money backing the development. Aion was a one year old (on the korean side) game that was doomed to fail because of the interference of parasitic gold farmers and bots. This was a problem that WoW kept under control in the beginning and then completely quelled in the end on most servers. The key factor to World Of Warcraft's market superiority is simply in the fact that they give you things. They allow you to find your challenge by giving you a variety of options to keep you busy. PVP, PVE, Raids, PVP Raids, PVE Holiday Events and all of these things reward you even if you fail at achieving the brass ring.

when i logged back on Friday i was the worst DPS there was, now I'm topping charts again (in normal groups) after a short amount of time. it occurred to me that they want me to play. They dont want me, for any reason, saying "this isn't fun anymore" and you can see that in the way they give out rewards.

Eazy-E - Ez Duz It

i don't have time to sit around and do something i don't want to. I sure as hell cant see why i should pay NCSoft to do something i don't like. so its back to wow again. i wonder if Blizz hacked my account just to make me come back.
