with the dwindling excitement of the personal website journal, weblog, and many of my old weblogging buddies resorting to forums and free journals for intellectual nourishment (if any is to be found in the pits) ive been finding more excellent sites like Acting white and Eddie Griffin BASG. just in reading sites like this for the past couple days i feel much more confident DL Hughley is coon and real underground Hip-Hop is the new traditional jazz.
speaking of which, if Alex ever gets me those advance tracks, ill be doing a pre-review for commons new album (the only track i got from him is from the smoking aces soundtrack), if not... ill be doing a review for commons new album... either way, im getting common's new album. its come down to just me and Alex doing review after review... ive got a line on a couple of good records out right now, but i cant afford any. Jamie's birthday left my pockets feeling just like they did when i was making posts on this site back in 2k5, i hate to even mention it so much, but ive been way above water level for months and suddenly, im all wet.
i noticed that he put so far to go by Common/D'Angelo on the album which has been leaked-out and billed as "by J. Dilla" since his death, for almost a year now, ive had it on several mixes. theres a track featuring Nas and Mos def that im curious about and a scarface track that im dreading. the whole album is produced by Kanye and Will.I.Am pretty much, with one-shot production by Primo, Dre, Devo and as i mentioned before, J to the Dilla.. yeaAAaayah.
